Liezel loved diving.
She qualified as an openwater diver on the 9th October 1996. In the year she died, she finished her Advanced Plus; Medic First Aid, Rescue Diver and DiveMaster courses. She also finished 8 Padi speciality diver ratings.
She was a technical diver with IANTD certification. She had dived to 55 meters SW. She had logged 40 Nitrox dives in 6 months, with a total of 72 dives in the year
